Wide Awake
A moment after a long gray season, when you notice the world again. The smell of rain on spruce. Your own laugh. These earrings belong to that moment.
If you have been moving through the days on autopilot, doing what needs doing and feeling a little far away from yourself, you know how quietly it happens. You also know how sweet it is when the fog starts to lift. You want something to mark that turn, a small daily reminder that you are here for all of it now.
Slim blades of opalwood run from smoky black into green, with light glowing through the lower half like sun through shallow water. Each open-backed setting lets that light move through the stone. A single sterling silver leaf curls across each blade, and bar prongs hold the stone at the base.
Opalized wood began as a living tree, and some part of it still remembers. It is said to strengthen your connection to the natural world and bring fresh energy to a tired spirit. These were photographed at low tide on the beach in Petersburg, where the kelp turns gold in the fall sun, and they looked right at home.
For the person coming back to life and wanting to feel every bit of it.
Natural Character: Opalwood is a delicate natural material. The same layers that give it its glow can hold natural fracture lines, and some stones show them. These lines are part of the stone’s character and do not affect its integrity. Each stone is secured in a sterling silver setting with prongs designed to hold it firmly in place. Please handle gently: avoid drops, hard knocks, and harsh chemicals, and store flat when not worn.
