In the 1960s and 70s, Alaskan beach sand was smelted for its gold content, and the slag left behind became something unexpected: a gold-infused glass with a rich, saturated red that couldn't be replicated. Rosa Rita is no longer produced—modern refining methods extract nearly all the gold, leaving only unremarkable, clear slag. What remains from those earlier decades is all there will ever be.
These earrings demand attention without asking for it. Deep, saturated red with all the warmth of banked coals—the kind of color that feels alive. Each stone holds its own unique silhouette, organic and unrepeatable, shaped by forces beyond anyone's control.
