Number 8 Turquoise Hoops I · One-of-a-Kind
Turquoise has been the traveler's stone for as long as people have left the place they were born.
These two stones are from the Number 8 mine in Eureka County, Nevada—found in 1925, mined out, then sold to a gold company that buried the rest in a dump. What you find now is from old stock, vintage holdings, and what was saved before the bulldozers returned. Once gone, it's gone. The classic Number 8 signature lives in the matrix here: warm golden-brown spiderweb laid across a softer body, every line a different map.
The stones hang from the Whimsy Berry Leaf hoops, with French hooks, sterling silver leaves curling beneath the lobe, and silver dusted detail that holds the rainforest in the metal. The silver dust catches light the way dewdrops do, scattered across the surface where the leaves curl.
Turquoise has been the warrior's amulet, the trader's good faith, the talisman of safe passage worn by people walking long distances toward something better. Number 8 carries the legacy of one of the great American mines, depleted, irreplaceable. A small piece of history that cannot be made again.
